I remember being transfixed by Eddy Arnold for the first time, when his song “Cattle Call” defined a dream-like scene in Gus Van Sant’s My Own Private Idaho. The country singer, who brought a little city to the genre, and defined “The Nashville Sound,” passed away today at age 89.
